Taking stock of 2019

2019 was overall a very eventful year for me, filled with new experiences and lots of learning.

After my graduation from the University of Luxembourg in December 2018, January 2019 kicked off with a New Year's Eve spent in Edinburgh, where for the first time, I experienced the Hogmanay craziness. After that, together with my flatmates and friend we went on a trip to the Highlands and saw some truly beautiful places!

February and March was spent with a focus on my studies and on my duties as a Course representative. I was also preparing the Edinburgh Award for Representing Students, which meant lots of trainings and lots of reflection papers to write.

In April I received the Edinburgh Award for Representing Students as a recognition for my work as a Course representative.

This was also the period when my courses ended, and when I started to focus more on my dissertation. I also spent a weekend in the lovely St. Andrews.

In May I started volunteering for the Talbot Rice Gallery and for the Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival and started to prepare for a second Edinburgh Award, this time focusing on volunteering.

In June we visited the Highlands again with my friends and again, I was amazed by the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

Also in June, I volunteered for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which was a lovely time and a full week spent in cinemas around Edinburgh.

July was spent writing my dissertation, volunteering and enjoying the Edinburgh summer. I participated to a Summer school organised by the Centre for Special Collections by the University of Edinburgh, where I had the opportunity to learn about careers in the library, gallery and museum sector and discovered the hidden collections by the University.

In the beginning of August, I submitted my dissertation and started a small job at the Edinburgh Fringe. This was also a lovely time and the Fringe really transformed the city! In the end of August, the school year ended, I said goodbye to my lovely friends in Edinburgh and we all went home to our respective countries.

***EDINBURGH***

The end of August was a busy time, because I only spent a few days home in Luxembourg before flying off to my internship in Tokyo.

September, October and November was spent with my internship, which I wrote about more in detail in a previous post. It was an amazing experience and being in Japan is always a very special feeling. I flew home in the end of November, just in time for my graduation.

In the end of November, I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with Distinction and could spend some lovely days walking and soaking in the beauty of the pre-Christmas Edinburgh.

In the middle of December, I travelled to Porto, where I had a wonderful time walking, enjoying the sun and eating Francesinhas. I celebrated Christmas and New Year's Eve at home with my family. In January, I focused on job-hunting, kick-starting my academic career and I travelled shortly to Madrid to meet up with my friends from Edinburgh.
